Ginkgo biloba extract: what effect does it have?

Ginkgo biloba leaves are still used by Chinese medicine to treat memory loss, stomach pain, dysentery, hypertension, mental stress and respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis, poor circulation and anxiety caused by them.

The active ingredient of Ginkgo biloba is terpene, which includes bilobalide and bilobalide.

These ginkgo flavone-glucoside components have strong antioxidant and free radical scavenging capabilities.

The medicinal value and application of Ginkgo biloba extract are extremely extensive. With advanced technology, technology and equipment, its pharmacological effects are more obvious through further extraction, separation and purification.

Ginkgo biloba leaves not only have obvious antagonism to PAF receptors, but also can play a role in anti-inflammation, anti-allergy, vasodilation, protection of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, improvement of blood circulation in outer week, reduction of serum cholesterol and auxiliary anti-cancer and other aspects.

According to the research, it can be widely applied to the prevention, treatment and health care of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, nervous system diseases, etc.[1]

Promote circulation

Ginkgo biloba extract: what effect does it have?

Ginkgo biloba extract ginkgobiloba p.e. can promote circulation of brain and body limbs at the same time.[2]

One of the main health care functions of ginkgo biloba extract ginkgobiloba p e is to inhibit a substance called platelet activating factor (PAF), which is a medium released from cells and causes platelet aggregation (accumulation).

High levels of PAF can cause nerve cell damage, reduced central nervous system blood flow, inflammation, and bronchoconstriction.

Very similar to free radicals, high PAF levels can also lead to aging.

Ginkgolides and bilobalide can protect nerve cells of central nervous system from damage during ischemia (lack of oxygen in body tissues).

This function may be helpful for patients suffering from stroke. Besides inhibiting platelet adhesion, ginkgo biloba extract can also regulate vascular tension and elasticity.

In other words, it can make vascular circulation more efficient. The effect of improving circulation efficiency has the same effect on large blood vessels (arteries) and small blood vessels (capillaries) in the circulation system.

Anti oxidation

Ginkgo biloba extract ginkgobiloba p.e. may exert antioxidant properties in brain, eyeball retina and cardiovascular system.

Its antioxidant effect in brain and central nervous system may help prevent brain function decline due to age.

The antioxidant function of ginkgo biloba extract in the brain is of particular interest. The brain and central nervous system are particularly vulnerable to free radicals. Free radical-induced brain damage is widely believed to be an influential factor in many diseases accompanying aging, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Ginkgo biloba extract ginkgobiloba p.e. improves cerebral blood flow and has excellent nourishing effect on nervous system.

Hundreds of scientific studies involving tens of thousands of patients have confirmed the efficacy of ginkgo biloba extract on many problems including cerebral blood flow insufficiency and intellectual decline of elderly patients.

Ginkgo biloba has a good effect on many possible symptoms of aging, such as anxiety and depression, memory impairment, difficulty in concentrating, decreased alertness, decreased intelligence, vertigo, headache and tinnitus (ringing in the ear), degeneration of Macula of retina (the most common cause of blindness in adults), inner ear disturbance (which can lead to partial deafness), poor end circulation, impotence caused by poor penis blood flow.

Resist dementia

Scientists reviewed all published high-quality studies on ginkgo biloba and mild memory impairment and came to the conclusion that:

Ginkgo biloba is significantly more effective than placebo in improving memory and sensory function.

Ginkgo biloba is widely used in Europe to treat dementia.

Ginkgo biloba is believed to help prevent or treat these brain disorders because it can increase brain blood flow and its antioxidant function. Despite the scientific defects in many clinical trials, evidence that ginkgo biloba may increase the thinking ability, learning ability and memory of patients with Alzheimer’s disease is still highly expected.

Adjust eye problems

Flavonoids in Ginkgo biloba may stop or relieve some retinopathy. Retinal damage has many possible causes, including diabetes and macular degeneration.

Retinal macular disease (commonly known as macular degeneration in elderly or ARMD) is a progressive degenerative eye disease and is prone to occur in the elderly. It is the main cause of blindness in the United States.

Studies suggest ginkgo may help maintain the eyesight of ARMD patients.

Treatment of hypertension

Ginkgo biloba extract can simultaneously reduce the adverse effects of blood cholesterol, triacylglycerol and very low density lipoprotein on human body, reduce blood lipid, improve microcirculation and inhibit blood coagulation, which have significant therapeutic effects on hypertension.

Treat diabetes

At present, ginkgo biloba extract has been used in medicine to replace insulin for diabetic patients, which shows that ginkgo biloba has the function of insulin to regulate blood sugar.

Many glucose tolerance tests have proved that ginkgo biloba extract has obvious effects on regulating blood sugar and improving insulin resistance, thus reducing insulin antibody and enhancing insulin sensitivity.
