Most popular vitamin supplements are not good for your health, according to a study by medical scientists at the University of Toronto in Canada, published in the journal Science Daily.
Scientists conducted a general analysis of randomized controlled studies published between 2012 and 2017 and found that, Calcium and vitamin C and vitamin D, often used as food additives, have neither positive nor negative effects on preventing cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, or premature death.
At the same time, studies have found that folic acid and vitamin B combine with these substances to reduce cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Dr Jenkins, who was involved in the study, concluded: “A healthy diet is the best way to get enough vitamins and minerals. There have been no studies on additives that show that there are any healthier ingredients than raw plants such as vegetables, fruits and nuts. ”
Earlier, US scientists confirmed that vitamin D supplementation and substances that accelerate its activity in pancreatic cells could prevent type 2 diabetes.
